Where it all began.
A sombre two-hour expansion that takes the player back to the infernal world of Mount Massive Asylum where it all began, for better or for worse, the player will again experience the same brutal torture as the main game. Where we finish the first game here in the DLC is where we started and where to start the main game is end of the DLC, a kind of deja-vu.
The protagonist is the one who sends the email to Miles Upshur to tell of the horrors in the asylum. Shortly after sending the email, he is captured and forced to endure the horrors of the ruined institution. The beginning is more like a prologue and an epilogue to the main game, and contains some interesting stories that help you understand exactly what is happening. Of course there are also documents scattered around the asylum that provide additional information as happens in the main game.
Unfortunately there are not many new places. Most of the places have already been there in the main game. The game itself is the reverse of the main, you have to leave the labs to go to the exit door of the asylum. I think that familiarity in this DLC does not make it unique, the visual graphics and the sound environment are the same as the main game removing a little suspense. Of course jump scares are there as in the original, where maybe some of them are more sonic than visuals makes it more confusing than terrifying if it happens in a dark place without the camera.
The same gameplay equals the main game, runs and hides. I found that the objectives of the missions in this DLC are vague and the elected locations more labyrinthine than ever before. Which increases the frustration because that window or wall or ladder confuses with the scenery and causes the player to die sometimes, as in the first but here is to double. Not forgetting that it has to be like the game want because it is scripted in that way, so don’t think to do otherwise or you will be “kill” with frustration.
You can play this DLC on your own or accompanied, but I suggest that you bought it on a promotion, since it does not add anything new.
