Differences between F2P, Demo and B2P games

It has not happened to you when reading Game reviews and seeing things like this “boring game, wasted money” and that same game has a demo version to play before being bought or else “this game is fantastic, it should be free” a game that is paid or else “the game is cool but the special items and the packs are too expensive” for a Free game.

Apparently, there are a lot of people who do not know the differences between these 3 types of games. So I will try to explain the differences of each of them with my knowledge.

F2P (Free to play)

In thick mode is a type of game that everyone can play a complete game without having to pay to play. Usually this type includes genre such as Farmville 2, Small City, Deadman’s Cross, Castle Clash, Spiral Knights, Dota 2 among others. And as with this games, the develops have to have their return on what they have invested somewhere, and that “somewhere” is in the special coins that can be used in the store to buy “special” items or packs sold a part there with extra items. Of course the purchase of special coins and packs is optional.

Demo

In thick mode is a type of game that everyone can play a small part of the complete game. Being a chapter or chapter with a timer. This will help players interested in the game, before buying it without of surprises.

B2P (Buy to Play)

In thick mode is a type of game that everyone has to buy before can play. In which comes the complete game, and can vary the price. In many cases there is a DLC (Downloadable content) which can be extra chapters or small sequels of this game with affordable prices (with exceptions). The purchase of DLC is also optional.

In my opinion and in my view spend money on free games is a little risky because who does not tell me that tomorrow the devs will give up the there project.

Always play the demo if it is available or else watch the gameplay of this game on YouTube to see if it’s really what you want.

I advise you never buy a game that has just came out because it will comes with bugs, let the devs solve most of the problems (I speak from experience). Later it may or may not appear DLC and by rule or not the pack of the Game Of The Year (G.O.T.Y.), it will have the base game + DLC with a much more affordable price. If we are to do the accounts for example for Fallout 4 it is more expensive to buy all of the seperate if it is all along with it is logical and if a good promotion appear even better, but of course each one of us is free to do as we please.
